Planning vs. Living: Which do you decide?
Before we get into the very first rant, I’d like to take a moment to thank you all for your support. Whether you are a new supporter or an old fan of my work, I appreciate you.
And now for the rant…
As many of you may already know, today is my 22nd birthday, and as a gift to myself, I’ve decided to create this blog to share my thoughts on a variety of topics. A few days ago I had a conversation with a friend of mine about where we had planned to be during this stage of our lives. By now, according to the plan we had mapped out in high school, I should be working on my masters, starting a career within the music business, and engaged to the love of my life. While I am fine with how things are progressing, none of them are going as planned. I’m not currently earning my masters degree, nor has my career in entertainment kicked off. And no, I’m not even dating at the moment, let alone engaged. And what I’ve learned is… that’s okay.
Life doesn’t always go according to plan. We spend so much of our time waiting for this or that to happen before we can finally declare happiness, but why? Think about it, the time you spend micromanaging every nook and cranny of the box you’ve sheltered yourself in, is time you’ve spent not actually living. Avoid the devastation of things not going as planned and take a chance at true happiness. Whether that’s changing your career from what makes money to what brings joy, or trying a new restaurant, heck, even trying a new hair style. Whatever that thing is that makes you happy, do it! You’ve only got one life; you can spend it planning or actually living it… the choice is yours… what are you going to do?
